Confidential Waste

The secure disposal of confidential documents is essential to all businesses and organisations for reasons of commercial integrity and compliance with government legislation.

Under the Data Protection Act you must destroy, under secure conditions, any data containing personal information, failure to do so is a criminal offence.

Some examples of the data included within this remit are listed below:

  • payroll data

  • financial reports

  • job applications

  • customer records

  • minutes of meetings

These are just a few examples of information that could embarrass or compromise your company if not disposed of securely.

WMS take the worry out of finding a suitably qualified contractor by using a network of long-established, accredited companies who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Registered carrier of waste under the Duty of Care of the Environment Protection Act.
  • Members of an accredited organisation (BSIA) British Security Industry Association or (UKSSA) United Kingdom Security Shredding Association.
  • All vehicles and containers located by British Standard tracking devices.
  • Selection and vetting of staff must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of BS7858.
  • All material to be destroyed within 24 hrs of collection.
  • All material to be destroyed to the agreed Ministry of Defence standard size.
  • Numbered seals and the issuing of an Approved Destruction Certificate.
  • Compared with other methods of destruction and disposal, security shredding has the least impact on the environment.
  • All shredded material goes to UK paper mills for recycling. This material will then be used to make products such as toilet tissues and high quality writing papers.
